Privacy Policy
We respect the privacy of the users of "Gabor Eye Trainer" (Japanese title: アイトレガボール, hereafter "the App") and are committed to protecting their information.
1. Information we handle
The App does not collect directly identifying information such as your name, email address or phone number. No account is required.
Information handled by the App falls into three categories.
- Stored on your device only: your training records (date, mode, duration, correct and incorrect counts), Vision Check results (level reached and which eye), and app settings (sound, reminder time, ad-free expiry). All of this is stored in a database on your device and is never transmitted to our servers. We have no way to view it.
- Collected by third parties for advertising: the App displays ads through Google AdMob. To deliver and measure ads, Google and its advertising partners may collect your advertising ID (AAID), IP address, device information and data about ad impressions and interactions. See "4. Advertising" below.
- Handled by Google Play for in-app purchases: the App offers a one-time purchase that removes ads. Payment is handled entirely by Google Play, and we never receive or store payment details such as card numbers. See "5. In-app purchases" below.
2. How the information is used
- To show your own training records back to you as a calendar and statistics
- To compare your Vision Check result with your previous one
- To deliver a reminder notification at the time you set
- To display ads and to manage ad-free periods
- To check whether the ad-free purchase has been made, so that ads are not shown to purchasers
3. Storage and transmission
- Training records, check results and settings are stored only on your device (Room database and DataStore).
- We operate no servers of our own and do not collect or receive this data.
- If Android Auto Backup is enabled, this data may be backed up in encrypted form to your Google account. You can enable or disable backup in your Android settings.
- Uninstalling the App deletes the data on your device (unless a backup remains).
4. Advertising (Google AdMob)
The App is offered free of charge and displays ads through Google AdMob. Google and third-party ad providers may use identifiers equivalent to cookies, and your advertising ID (AAID), to show ads relevant to your interests.
- For how Google uses data from apps and sites that use its services, see How Google uses information from sites or apps that use our services.
- Google's Privacy Policy is available here.
- Opting out of ad personalisation: on your Android device, go to Settings → Privacy → Ads to reset or delete your advertising ID.
- Removing ads: watching a rewarded video ad from the App's settings screen removes ads for 24 hours. Buying the one-time "remove ads" purchase removes them permanently.
If you are in the EU/EEA or the UK: the App uses Google's User Messaging Platform to obtain your consent before serving ads. You can change or withdraw your consent at any time from Settings → Ad privacy settings in the App. Until consent is obtained, no personalised advertising is served and no ad requests are made.
If you are in certain US states: depending on your state's privacy law, you may have the right to opt out of processing that constitutes a "sale" or "sharing" of personal information. You can do so through the notice shown in the App, or by deleting your advertising ID as described above.
5. In-app purchases (Google Play)
The App offers a one-time purchase that removes ads permanently.
- All payments are processed through Google Play's billing system. We neither receive nor store payment details such as card or bank account numbers.
- Your purchase is tied to your Google account and is managed on Google Play. We do not hold purchase information in a form that identifies individual users (Google Play Console shows us aggregate sales figures and order IDs only).
- To check your purchase status, the App communicates with Google Play services, for example at launch. This is what allows your purchase to be restored automatically after you switch devices or reinstall. Only a flag indicating whether the purchase has been made is cached on your device.
- You can review your purchases, request a refund and manage payment methods on Google Play. See Google Play Help for details.
6. Notifications
The notification permission is used only if you enable the reminder feature. Reminders are generated entirely on your device; no external push notification server is involved. You can turn them off at any time in Settings.
7. Disclosure to third parties
We do not sell, provide or disclose your information to third parties, except:
- where Google and its advertising partners collect information for ad delivery, as described in "4. Advertising" (each provider's own privacy policy applies)
- where Google Play collects information in order to process an in-app purchase, as described in "5. In-app purchases" (Google's own privacy policy applies)
- where disclosure is required by law
8. Analytics
The App does not use analytics tools such as Google Analytics, nor any crash reporting service.
9. Security
We take appropriate technical measures to prevent unauthorised access to, and the loss, destruction, alteration or leakage of, information.
10. Children
The App is not directed to children under 13. We do not knowingly collect information from children under 13.
11. About the App
The App is not a medical device and is not intended to diagnose, treat or prevent any condition. Vision Check is a simplified feature whose result varies with your viewing conditions, and it is not a substitute for an eye examination. If you have any concerns about your eyesight or eye health, please consult an eye care professional.
12. Changes to this policy
We may update this Privacy Policy as necessary. Any updated policy takes effect when it is posted on this page. We will announce significant changes in the App or in the store listing.
13. Contact
For questions about this Privacy Policy, please use the contact details shown on the App's Google Play listing.
